Finally an MP3 player that works!!

An MP3 player has one basic job, that is to play MP3''s. By default it should do it in proper track order (unless you pick shuffle). I tried 4 or 5 of the cheap knock off brand MP3 players and not a single one of them would play songs in the correct order. Some would play albums alphabetized. WTF? Who listens to an album in alphabetical order. WTF?

The Sandisk player however works perfect. I just copied my MP3''s from my computer to the player and when I select any of the albums, the songs are displayed and played in the correct order. Bottom line, this player is simple to load and works correctly. Battery life so far seem to be as advertised - 16hrs before I recharged and it wasn''t completely dead at that point.

The sounds is very good. I don''t hear any static or crackle at all in quiet music. That may be due to the fact I use a quality pair of ear phones. The buttons have a good feel and a positive click. I use this mostly while biking & working out and it''s very small and very light, which is exactly what I wanted. It''s also got the sport clip on the back, so you can drop it in a pocket or clip it on the edge of something, nice option.

    Update:
It does NOT have Bluetooth. But this player is really meant to be a light and small for sports. Something you take when you go running, walking, biking, etc. And for those things it works fantastic. I''m liking this player the more I use it.

I bought this for the kids'' taekwondo tournaments. I need a device that can play one track and then stop. I cannot accept looping play of a single track, and cannot have the player autoplay the next track. Unfortunately, this device doesn''t have that capability -- it can only reloop or autoplay the next track. I figured one klugey way to trick the device into playing a single track would be to create single-track playlists, one for each song. Although I''m quite skilled in generating M3U files, through text editors, Rhythmbox, Windows Media Player, Kid3-QT, and many others, and although I created valid M3U files using each approach, with valid relative filepaths, and loaded them onto the player, the player always showed the playlists as "[Empty]". On a whim, I tried multiple-song playlists and found the device couldn''t find the files in those playlists either. I tried changing the permissions on all the playlists (to universal read, write, and execute), but that didn''t help. I contacted SanDisk support, and unfortunately, they''re trained to direct users to an unhelpful page of the user''s manual that directs people to use an outdated version of Windows Media Player to generate M3U files. They seemed puzzled why that didn''t work. SanDisk support wouldn''t share the syntax for absolute file addressing in the MP3 player''s native OS, and the device has no way through onboard software to create playlists, so I was pretty much stuck. It''s a compact, light device with a nice screen and decent quality of output. It''s a shame the software isn''t functional. If all you want to do is load up the player with piles of files and not organize the play of them, I suppose it''d be pretty good. But it''s just not what I''m looking for.

If I could give this a rating of -1000, I would!!

I have no problem paying a little more for a quality product but I regret every moment of this transaction!! I have used Sandisk products faithfully for years. Camera jiggies, memory thing-a-ma bobs... You know what I''m saying. Never a problem. It was always my "go to" thing-a-ma-jig manufacturer.

I have owned 4 other Sandisk MP3''s over the last 15 years or so. Never had a problem with any of them. I used them constantly & they held up. The only reason I ever went to another was to upgrade to one with more memory.

I''m retired now. I work one night a week just to get out of the house. I wanted a way to have tunes while the patients were quietly sleeping. I also had an issue in changing from a fried Lenovo laptop that had ALL my music to a Macbook air which is a whole different learning curve.

So I purchased this on June 19th 2019. Took a week to arrive (free shipping.) Got it. Charged it.
Hooked up to the computer it transfers music automatically. Nice. BUT it transfers EVERYTHING.

7/2 worked, it was fine. GREAT battery life. However it was the 1st time I noticed the Christmas music. I love Christmas but I don''t want to listen to Christmas music in July. No easy way to remove it & when you go to charge it, it just puts it right back. UGH.
Next week tried to remove the Christmas music but it was VERY time consuming. Worked no problem.
Forgot it 7/9. It worked 7/16. On vacation 7/23 & 7/30 so it wasn''t used. 8/6 it was fine.

8/13 I was getting ready for an 11PM shift. Removed it from the charger & turned it off until I got to work.
Now this is the 5th time I was going to use it. Tried to turn it on... NOTHING. Not a flicker or buzz. Dead.
So it was a long night.
When I got home I attached it to the computer. NOTHING. Tried it on a charger. Dead, DEAD & Dead.

Now I''ve never had an issue with Sandisks before so I didn''t opt for the warranty. Why would I?
Now I wish I would have. Amazon just directed me to contact the manufacturer. We ALL know what that gets you...

So I have this little lump of nothing. Wouldn''t even make a good paper weight. $60 dollars worth of nothing.

I''d say buy a different product all together. If you do choose this one; make sure you pay EXTRA for the warranty! GOOD LUCK!!

I wanted a new MP3 player that would hold all of my media. 32G was the ticket for my 20G of media. Sadly, this player won''t play the tracks in track order. I bought some music her on Amazon. My several year old Clip Zip plays the music in the proper track sequence, while this new one plays them in some odd order. I do NOT use shuffle. I tried to get the MP3 tags very simple (tracks changed from 1/15 to simply 01, disk changed from 1/1 to 1). I don''t know what it uses to determine sequence, and SanDisk players used to get this right. This one does not. I even updated to the latest firmware (1.04). I have always liked my previous SanDisk players. This one disappoints due to it playing tracks in the wrong sequence. I will hold out for a firmware update that addresses the problem. SanDisk->Use the MP3 tags to build the sequence list. I would rate as 5 stars if the track list was correct. This is VERY important to me that a player plays in the right sequence.

Update: I have 318 albums, for about 4,500 songs contained in just less than 20G. So when I loaded all of it to the player, I noticed some albums don''t play in the right order. I then deleted all music from the player, then picked out about 6G to load into it, including the albums I noticed didn''t play in the right sequence. Well, now they play in the right sequence. I have yet to figure out how much I can load up before the problem returns. For now, I will not load my entire library. Maybe a future firmware update will address the issue.

This product, which is 16g and can hold a lot of music/media, is not intuitive and takes a lot of patience and coddling to get some results you need. If, like me, you want a device on which you can transfer 3000+ pieces of music with your already created playlists, this device is not for you. Unlike previous MP3 Clip products of the same manufacturer, this has become a much-less user-friendly item, and I regret spending the money on it.

This device does not have an easy way to put music and pre-created playlists on it. I had to go find a user manual online.
    - If you try to sync from a Media manager program, you will get thousands of folders and no playlists placed in the device.
    - There is no USB mode option setting for MTP or MSC.
    - You need to use only m3u playlists that you create in Windows Media Player or other media managers. NO other playlist format will work, including WMP''s default .wpl
    - They must be saved in the same directory as you place your music in the media manager. If they, like in Windows media player, are saved into a default Playlists folder, they will not work.
    - I had to create all new playlists for all of my music.
    - You need to drag and drop the playlists and music ONE playlist and related music at a time, then eject the device to refresh the media.
    - By the time I got to my 6th playlist (of 15), I was having to wait 10 minutes for the media to refresh every time.
    - By the time I got to my last playlist (15), the refresh was taking over 25 minutes every playlist/music set I added.
    - IF I have to add music later in an existing playlist, I will need to create the playlist again with the added music, transfer it and only the new music, and wait almost half an hour for a few new songs to be refreshed into the mass.
    - The full battery was almost half drained after all the time adding the music and waiting for refreshing.
    - I spent over 6 hours trying to coddle with this item, over two evenings, and this review is to share with you that if you want something fast and easy, this is not it.

If you only want a couple hundred songs and no playlists, you are probably okay. If you only want to listen to the radio and maybe put on a few audio books, you are likely okay. But, it you want a serious 16Gig music/audio player that, once you finally get your media on you never, you ever want or need to update or add to that media, this item is not a good product for you.

My old Sandisk clip was great for podcasts and audiobooks, and lasted for several years. It just worked, and organised everything with a seeming intelligence. Good battery life. Well... no way a newer product could be worse, right? But this is almost unusable. - Battery will suddenly go dead on you, even though it said it was fully charged the night before. - Audible Audiobooks are just rammed into a single folder with unfriendly_file_names and in the order you added them, rather than, oh, how about alphabetical? - Some audio books appear twice even if you''ve added them once (and the "shadow" copies report "invalid file format" if you try and play them. - Podcasts similarly are just one long unfriendly list. You have to organise them yourself if you want any organisation. So whereas in the old player if you had multiple episodes of a podcast, the player would put them in a folder for you and arrange them in order - nope, nothing like that here. - The old player would remember where you were in the podcast, even if you''d added some other files in the meantime. Not here - complete amnesia. So I end up irritably skipping episodes rather than trying to fast forward to the approximate point where I was before. Maybe there''s a mode I need to set - don''t_be_a_completely_rubbish_player, perhaps - but I haven''t found it. I don''t often work myself up enough to write bad reviews, but this is such a waste of money and such a disappointment.

Does not come in a tin but does exactly what you would expect and does it well

A very useful little light mp3 player, with radio. The fact it does not have blue tooth is not a issue for me as I prefer wired buds. The display is functional and works well, the buttons feel cheap but work for me over a touch screen. The player is so light it will survive all sorts of falls and drops if it even manages to pull off the wire which is unlikely. I like the form and size of it and the plastic feel really does not bother me because it keeps it light. The sound quality is on par with my phone and other players I have had in the past and I am happy with the sound. The EQ settings are nice to play with but I leave the setting flat . Overall I am very confident in recommend this little go anywhere player , you cannot go wrong with it for the price.

Disappointing, given the reliability of the old models

Bought to replace an old Sandisk Sansa which lasted years but finally succumbed to water damage. The new version has a flashy full colour interface and redesigned menu etc, all fine but just a distraction from the sole job of an mp3 player: to play mp3s well. I have two gripes with this new version, first, the way the internal software recognises and sorts audiobook files has changed. Where previously you could order an audiobook correctly by putting all files in the same folder and numbering consecutively, now it looks for numbering in the hidden metadata within each file. If missing, it just orders the files randomly. To edit the hidden metadata you need to install some third party software... basically at that point I gave up. In addition, the file system seems to be possessed; when plugged into a computer you can create folders, drag and drop as expected but the structure as seen from the mp3 player can be completely different, scattering components of audiobooks all over the place. Second, it quickly developed a weird fault where it plays back at about 2/3 speed most of the time, for children of the 80''s it will bring back happy memories of getting your tape wound up in the mechanism. How it manages to synthesise this physical fault is beyond me! Doesn''t really matter for audiobooks but unsatisfactory for music playback. Checking online, this looks like it can sometimes be fixed with a factory reset. Summary: new flashy colour interface at the expense of having an mp3 player that works.
