Description

The classic original Beatles studio albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period utilising state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the Beatles catalogue has seen since its original release.

Within each CD''s new packaging, booklets include detailed historical notes along with informative recording notes. For a limited period, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. The newly produced mini-documentaries on the making of each album, directed by Bob Smeaton, are included as QuickTime files on each album. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from The Beatles, offering a unique and very personal insight into the studio atmosphere.

OK, so I''m not here to critique the album itself. It''s a fine Beatles album despite some of the hyper-critical reviews I''ve read here. I''m also not here to critique Amazon''s customer service - it''s been excellent as usual (more on that later).

What I am criticizing is the quality of these albums. I think Amazon may have gotten a bad batch or something because I''ve got three already and they all skip. Even more telling, two of them skip in the SAME. EXACT. PLACE. This tells me that it''s a manufacturing issue and that it affects multiple recordings. It''s not my record player, either - I played the oldest, most scratched record in my collection and it had no problems.

This album is a gift to my wife - a Chrismas gift, and now it''s February 2018 so you can see how long I''ve been dealing with this - and that''s what makes it more frustrating. I will be returning album #3 in the hopes of getting a good one. I wonder if I ask to get it from a different warehouse, they will honor it? I hope so. Then again, Jeff Bezos is the richest man in existence, so he can afford to keep sending me albums until I get a good one.

So has anyone else had this same issue? The recurring skip is in "8 Days a Week."

If this was any other band, it would be the album of their career.

For Sale is one of my personal favorite Beatles albums. It''s the last old style Beatles before they transitioned into their more progressive style. It is a bit more somber in places almost as if they knew that the happy go lucky four moptops from Liverpool phase was at an end & from here on out more was going to be expected of them as serious artists. Never again would they be able to supliment their original songs with cover songs again. It wouldnt be too long till they would retire from the insanity of the road & concentrate solely on
recording new original groundbreaking masterpieces much like Brian Wilson would do with the Beach Boys before them. For Sale is like a graduation party: the silliness, the beer & the dancing & the laughter are still there but with a just under the surface melencholy that childhood had ended & it was time to grow up. I don''t want to spoil the party indeed, just let me play some of that rock & roll music, one more time!

I am only reviewing the quality of the vinyl LP, since there seem to be some defective batches in the past year. My order was placed and received in Dec 2018 for reference, and my turntable is a Music Hall MMF 5.3. My record was completely flat, not warped at all. No pops, or other anomalies in the playback, and none of the songs skipped. Seems as good a pressing as the rest of the Beatles reissue catalog made in Germany. Some have mentioned a bad remaster in the sound quality, but I don''t hear it .. not sure if my ears are that astute. I had to send Please Please Me back twice because 2 copies were warped, but Amazon is always good about returns/exchanges. Hopefully they have weeded out the bad batch, hope this helps.

The mix on this is so bad it is a travesty to say this is The Beatles. It is uneven with choppy ins and outs and an almost non-existent right channel with muffled treble and heavy-handed bass. Shame on EMI for letting this out! The Beatles never sounded like this, even on the old publicly available Star Club tapes. This applies to both With The Beatles and Beatles For Sale, from the same factory in Germany and presumably form the same masters. If you want either of these albums, I recommend looking for a good used copy if you want to hear what The Beatles actually sounded like. These "remasters" are a travesty!

The sound quality here is superb. CD comes in a cardstock jacket and includes a photo book. Most of the songs are outstanding originals with a few older covers all remastered in stereo. Beatles for Sale bridges the gap between Help and Rubber Soul. If you think about how busy they had been over the previous two years it''s easy to understand the inclusion cover songs. By looking at the cover photo of The Beatles you can plainly see how exhausted they were looking. The title of record itself speaks volumes now in the 21st century. Get Happy, Listen to The Beatles!

This is a great early Beatles album and it sounds amazing on vinyl. A MUST own for any Beatles fan with a record player!

Note that only eight of these songs are original Beatles compositions, but they are some of the most beloved of their songs according to the fan rankings on websites and the Beatles station on Sirius xm.

This album is worth purchasing for ''I''m a Loser'', ''Baby''s in Black'', ''Eight Days a Week'', and ''No Reply''.

I have never listened to any pop rock (pre folk-rock) song that grabs my attention more than John Lennon''s No Reply does to this day. The opening album''s side is sheer perfection from start to finish, launching Lennon''s direct and introspective vulnerability in his lyrics and his sincere vocal delivery like a rocket, driving straight into your heart, supported by Macca on meticulous high harmonies. The production is impeccable, as is the remastering. Had No Reply been released as a single at the time, it would have shot straight to number one! As for the follow-up sides, the Beatles excellence continues to expand and progress.

There is no need for defending this release with respect to the Beatles'' alleged imperfections due to exhaustion. They were always known for working great under pressure and this album proves it. Their vocals are like calluses in that they are only strengthened by their non-stop schedules and performances. I could listen to Lennon''s cover of Rock and Roll Music a million times and never grow tired of repeated listenings. Macca''s I''ll Follow the Sun is gorgeous and eloquent - faultless vocals and, again, single release status and number one caliber. There is not one weak song - cover or original performance on this album, so there is no need to excuse or reason to forgive.

Anyone of these songs could have been a single. They are all expressive, powerful and mesmerizing. If the Beatles had released only one album during their brief career, this would have epitomized their talent and been an open and shut case. There are NO explanations or apologies to be made whatsoever on Beatles for Sale! I highly recommend it and have bought the remaster five times - one in the stereo box set, one in the mono box set (not offered as a single purchase as the stereo is), one for my studio, one for my car and one as a gift for my daughters.

There''s very little that can be said about the Beatles that hasn''t already be said and I guess that anyone buying this album will already know what a brilliant album this is. Other reviewers have offered opinions on the improved sound quality that the re-issues offer and I can''t really add to that. One thing that I particularly like about the new CD format is, however, the packaging of the albums themselves...rather than a cheap looking plastic box with inlays, this comes in a really nice cardboard gate-fold, booklet style cover and is, in that regard, quite reminiscent of the 12" format (only much smaller, obviously). Also there is a certain uniformity to the packaging across the entire back catalogue - every album from Please Please Me through to Let It Be (the White Album notwithstanding, for obvious reasons) share certain design features, so if you buy the full set they look great on the shelf

It''s the Beatles who are interesting even at their worst. I am trying to buy and listen to the albums again in order 50 years after each was released. These early ones are particularly interesting as there are many tracks with which I am unfamiliar. When I bought the red Greatest Hits album as a teenager, Eight Days a Week was to me not a ''stand out track'', but here, in context, it sounds much better. I was eight when this album came out and The Beatles were the first band I really noticed. You don''t have to use much imagination to recapture the excitement. And although this was apparently their second album to be recorded with a four-track machine (as opposed to two) it is still very basic, and I think that gives it the edge on much of what we hear today, where actually technicians are more worthy of plaudits than the artists..

On first play 5 of the 14 songs skipped. Scratches were visible so this was returned and a replacement was received. With the replacement the first track on both sides jumped. Once again there was a clear scratch visible on both sides which was causing the record to skip. The second vinyl was returned for a refund. As with my purchase of the White Album, I’ve had to return two defective copies of Beatles For Sale. Once again I’ve been left disappointed by the quality of a vinyl record purchased from Amazon and had to make another two trips to the Royal Mail to return the items. Credit where it is due, there were no such issues with my purchase of the Rubber Soul vinyl from Amazon. Be aware that there are damaged vinyls of both Beatles For Sale and the White Album in circulation from Amazon.
